He Ao Hou: New Futures Murihiku is focussed on building a positive and hope-filled vision of the future and encouraging our young people to see themselves playing an active and vital role in our region.
Our intent is to show young people that the technology exists to decarbonise our economy and build great opportunities for life and work in our region.
We work with staff from the Otago University Outreach programme to provide:
- Professional development and learning opportunities for primary and secondary schools in Murihiku-Southland.
- School visits – providing practical learning experiences in the classroom.
Since July 2023, 28 schools have participated in Professional Development (PD) and outreach visits.
More than 700 students have now made hydrogen in the region’s schools.
